How did Sai Baba actually attend Dev's Udyapan feast if Dev didn't see him there?

Sai Baba attended Dev's Udyapan ceremony by appearing in the guise of a Sanyasi. As explained in Chapter 40, Baba later clarified the events to Jog. He stated that he first came alone as a Sanyasi, which initially made Dev fearful that he would be asked for money. Baba then left and returned at noon for the meal, precisely as arranged, bringing two other companions with him. Baba confirmed, "I said I would come with two others, and I went with two others." Although Dev served the meal to the Sanyasi and his companions, he was under a "veil of Maya" and did not recognize that it was Sai Baba himself who had come to fulfill his promise, thus leaving Dev to mistakenly believe Baba had not shown up.
