How did Sai Baba actually attend Dev's Udyapan ceremony when Dev thought he didn't show up?

Sai Baba did attend Dev's Udyapan ceremony, but he did so in disguise, which caused Dev to miss his presence. As recounted in Chapter 40, Baba first appeared alone in the guise of a Sanyasi. When Dev invited this Sanyasi to eat, he returned at noon with two other companions. Although Dev personally served the three uninvited guests, his mind was veiled by 'Maya,' and he failed to recognize Baba. Later, after Dev complained in a letter to Jog, Baba explained that he had indeed fulfilled his promise, stating, "I said I would come with two others, and I went with two others." Dev only learned the truth after Jog wrote back explaining how Baba had attended the feast.
