Other contemporary saints recognized Sai Baba's profound spiritual stature, often before the local villagers did. Chapter 0 provides specific examples of this. When the famous Gangagir Baba first saw Maharaj, he immediately remarked to the nearby villagers, "This is purely a gem. His worth is very great. The village is very lucky that you got this gem." Similarly, Anandnath Maharaj of Akkalkot, a disciple of the famous Swami of Akkalkot, spontaneously traveled to Shirdi and declared, "This is a diamond. You don't know its true value." These accounts from Chapter 0 clearly show that his spiritual peers held him in extremely high esteem.
