How did Maharaj support himself and where did he live during his early days in Shirdi?

In his early days, Maharaj lived a very simple and austere life. Chapter 0 states that he mostly resided in a Masjid that was in a dilapidated state at the time. While he would go to different places during the day, he would always return to the Masjid to stay for the night. For sustenance, he did not seek anything for himself. The text mentions that if someone took him for a meal, he would go. He provided services like giving medicine and caring for the sick completely free of charge and never accepted money for his help.
