Initially, Maharaj actively practiced medicine, providing remedies to people free of charge. The texts in Chapter 0 state that if a patient was not being cared for properly, he would go and do it himself. However, he later ceased this practice. Maharaj explained to the writer, whom he called 'Kaka,' that he stopped giving medicine and instead started chanting 'Hari Hari,' which led him to 'meet Hari.' Following this shift, he began to give only Udi, or sacred ash, to people seeking help, and they continued to benefit from his grace.
