How did Madhavrao (Shama) react to Sai Baba's handling of the Dakshina from the two men from Goa?

📖 Chapter 36

Upon witnessing Sai Baba accept money from one man and refuse it from his friend, Madhavrao, also known as Shama, was perplexed by the apparent partiality. Chapter 36 describes how he directly questioned Baba, asking, "Why do you do this?" and pointing out the disappointment caused to the person whose offering was returned. Shama couldn't understand the affection for a small amount versus the selfless attitude toward a larger one. Baba's response, also found in Chapter 36, was to enlighten Shama by explaining that the transaction was not personal but a matter of settling a debt owed to "Mother Masjid."
