Damu Anna's devotion was demonstrated through a long-standing tradition during the annual Ram Navami festival in Shirdi. As explained in Chapter 25, two large new flags are taken out in a procession through the village. One of these flags belonged to Damu Anna, and providing it was a regular vow he had undertaken for many years with uninterrupted love and devotion. The procession, accompanied by musical instruments, would start from the house of Kondaji Sutara, and the long banners from the flags were ultimately tied to the two ends of the Masjid, marking a very public and consistent display of his faith.
