According to Chapter 25, the letter written by Damu Anna first arrived in the hands of Madhavrao, who is also known as Shama. Shama then took the letter into the Masjid and physically placed it at Sai Baba's feet. Baba then prompted Shama to explain the letter, asking what it was about. After a brief, playful exchange where Baba insisted on having it read despite seemingly knowing its contents, Shama read the letter aloud. Baba listened attentively before providing his response, which was a clear message of caution against pursuing millions. Shama then conveyed this reply back to Damu Anna, who was anxiously awaiting it in Nagar.
