How did Chand Patil meet Sai Baba, and what role did he play in Baba's arrival in Shirdi?

According to Chapter 39, Chand Patil, a meritorious man, was the first to find the 'treasure' that was Sai Baba. Their first meeting occurred after Patil had lost his horse. Sai, whom he met near a road, made him smoke a chillum and then helped him get his horse back. Later, a marriage was arranged for Chandbhai's nephew with a bride from Shirdi. Sai accompanied the wedding party from Dhupkheda to Shirdi. The chapter clarifies, however, that Chand Patil was merely an instrument, as Sai came to Shirdi of his own accord out of a great concern for his devotees.
