The chain of events is a remarkable example of destiny. As explained in Chapter 4, Dixit's trip to England resulted in an accident that left him with a lame foot. This physical ailment, which seemed like bad luck, was the catalyst that led him to meet Chandorkar and learn about Sai Baba. He first visited Sai on November 2, 1909. Deeply moved, he returned in December and wished to become a resident. This desire culminated in the decision to build a Wada for pilgrims. The foundation for this Wada was approved by Baba, with orders given on December 10th. As Chapter 4 further notes, this same significant day also marked the commencement of the "Shej-Aarti" (night prayer) in the Chavadi.
How did an unfortunate event in England ultimately lead to the construction of Dixit's Wada and the start of the Shej-Aarti?
