Based on the preface of the Shri Sai Satcharita, a primary way for devotees to engage in service and build community is through the study of detailed biographies. The Sadguru accepts service from devotees through books in two ways: either by writing great works themselves or by having their biographies written by devotees. As described in Chapter 0, devotees can perform study and Parayans (devotional readings) of a work like the Shri Sai Satcharita. By doing so, the writer performs Guru service, and other devotees who study the text also achieve the purpose of their lives, creating a shared spiritual practice.
