Although Amir Shakkar was forbidden from going to the Masjid, his stay in the Chavadi paradoxically provided him with abundant opportunities for Sai Baba's darshan. Chapter 22 explains that his location was such that Baba's vision 'happened automatically without effort.' He could see Baba every morning during the alms rounds and again every evening. Furthermore, on alternate nights when Baba stayed in the Chavadi, they were separated only by a plank door. After other devotees left, they would talk, granting Amir intimate access that he would not have had otherwise.
Given that Amir was forbidden from visiting the Masjid, how was his stay in the Chavadi beneficial for receiving Baba's darshan?
