From a physiological perspective, how did Sai Baba explain the connection between food, the senses, and the ability to engage in devotional acts?

📖 Chapter 32

Sai Baba explained the connection between food and devotion from a very practical, physiological standpoint. According to Chapter 32, he taught that without the "moistness of food in the belly," the senses become weak and ineffective. He considered the time of intense hunger a "very difficult time" when all skills are forgotten. His logic was that devotional acts are performed through the senses: seeing God with the eyes, describing His glory with the tongue, and hearing His praise with the ears. If these senses lack the strength that food provides, they have no capacity for spirituality. Therefore, he concluded, devotion to God can only happen when the senses are properly nourished.
