Dev had faith that Baba would visit him in Dahanu, but what were his conflicting thoughts on this matter?

📖 Chapter 40

Dev held a strong and joyful faith in Baba's infallible words, believing that Baba would surely come to him in Dahanu. He considered the day this would happen to be a 'golden day.' However, as Chapter 40 explains, this faith was accompanied by logical doubt. Dev knew that Baba's physical travels were historically limited to Shirdi and three other villages, and he wondered how Baba could possibly come all the way to Dahanu. He resolved this internal conflict by contemplating Baba's divine nature, acknowledging Him as a 'Leelavatari' (master of miracles) who is 'perfectly full, inside and out,' and for whom physical travel is a mere worldly concept.
