Despite the harsh conditions of the Chavadi, how did Amir's stay there ultimately benefit his connection with Sai Baba?

📖 Chapter 22

Although the Chavadi was a place of physical misery, it became a site of great spiritual benefit for Amir. Chapter 22 reveals that his assigned location provided him with effortless and frequent visions of Sai Baba. He saw Baba daily during His morning alms round and every evening when Baba would come before the Chavadi. Furthermore, on the alternate nights Baba stayed there, only a plank door separated them, allowing them to talk privately after other devotees left. This constant proximity meant that his vision of Baba happened "automatically without effort," turning a difficult penance into a profound blessing of constant company.
