Damu Anna decided to visit Shirdi despite the disappointing reply because of a hint included in the letter from Madhavrao. As Chapter 25 explains, Madhavrao had suggested, "There is a difference between hearing and seeing; you should come here in person." This sparked a glimmer of hope in Damu Anna, who thought, "Perhaps He will give permission." Acting on this, he traveled to Shirdi. Upon his arrival, he approached Baba, prostrated himself, and began to slowly massage Baba's feet.
