The bond between Tatya Patil and Sai Baba was exceptionally close and integral to the Chavadi procession. Chapter 37 reveals that even if Baba was ready to leave, He would patiently remain seated until Tatya arrived. Tatya would then affectionately put his hand under Baba's arm to help Him stand.
