Sai Baba's distribution of Udi was a consistent and loving ritual. Chapter 33 details that whenever devotees, regardless of their status, came for his Darshan and were preparing to leave, Baba would give them Vibhuti. He would take handfuls of ash from the ever-burning Dhuni and give it as a benediction. He called it Prasad, and his method was personal: he would apply the ash with his own thumb to their foreheads and then place his entire hand on their heads, wishing them well.
