The annual fair in Shirdi began with an idea from the devotee Gopalrao Gund. According to Chapter 0, he thought a fair (Jatra or Urs) should be held to honor Maharaj and proposed this to Tatya Patil, Dada Kote Patil, and Madhavrao Deshpande. They embraced the idea and took on the task of organizing it. However, the plan met with significant resistance from the local Kulkarni, who created obstacles that resulted in a collector issuing an order to prevent the fair from happening. Despite this, an order to hold the fair was eventually obtained, and by Maharaj's command, it was decided the fair would take place on Ram Navami, a tradition that continues to this day.
