The Chavadi procession originated from Sai Baba's regular, alternating sleeping schedule. As a rule, He would sleep in the Masjid one night and then spend the next night at the Chavadi. Chapter 37 clarifies that this sequence continued without fail until His Samadhi. While this was His personal routine, the grand public celebration associated with it, which included worship, bhajan, and adoration, formally began on December 10, 1910.
