According to Chapter 9 of the Satcharitra, the son's mother, a supreme devotee herself, wished to go to Shirdi to have darshan of Sai Baba. While his father wanted him to accompany her, the son was hesitant to go. His primary worry was about the continuity of the daily worship at home. He had a strict routine of performing daily worship of Sai's photograph and offering Naivedya before consuming any food.
