Sai Baba played a direct role in guiding the development and recognition of several sacred sites in Shirdi. As recounted in Chapter 0, when devotee Gopalrao Gund collected stones to rebuild the Masjid, Baba denied permission for that specific project. Instead, he commanded that the stones be used to build the Shani temple and renovate other village temples. In another instance, Maharaj pointed to a spot under a Neem tree and stated there was a Pir's tomb there. When the area was dug, a tomb was indeed found. He then instructed that incense should be burned at this tomb, which he called "our father's place," every Thursday and Friday for the welfare of the devotees.
