After the Sanyasi and his two companions finished their satisfying meal, Dev demonstrated exceptional hospitality. Chapter 40 details the specific rituals he performed with great respect and joy. These included the post-meal customs of Uttaraposhan (final sipping of water) and Shuddhachaman (rinsing the mouth). Dev also provided fragrant cool water to drink and Mukhashuddhi, or mouth fresheners. The etiquette was completed by offering all the guests sandalwood paste, flowers, betel leaves, perfume, and rosewater.
