The initial meeting between the Sanyasi and the Mamlatdar was a complete coincidence. The Sanyasi, a promoter of cow shelters, had gone to the Station Master at Dahanu for help with fundraising. The Station Master suggested he approach the Mamlatdar in town. According to Chapter 40, while they were discussing this plan inside the station, the Mamlatdar himself unexpectedly arrived on horseback. The Station Master recognized this as a stroke of luck, urging the Sanyasi, "The Mamlatdar has arrived right here! Now take your chance, say what you have to say; by luck, you have met him unexpectedly."
