The initial meeting between Maharaj and Chandbhai is detailed in Chapter 0. Chandbhai, the Patil of Dhupkhede, was searching a forest for his lost horse when he came upon Maharaj sitting under a tree. Maharaj called out to him and, upon hearing of the lost horse, simply pointed to a hedge and said the horse was there. Chandbhai found the horse exactly where indicated. Following this, a second miracle occurred. As there was no fire in the forest to light a chillum, Maharaj struck his tongs on the ground and produced fire, demonstrating his remarkable powers to the astonished Chandbhai.
