The initial encounter between Chandbhai Patil and Maharaj occurred when Chandbhai was searching for his lost horse in a forest. As detailed in Chapter 0, he saw Maharaj sitting under a tree, a person he had never met before. Maharaj called out to him, offering a smoke from his chillum. When Chandbhai mentioned his lost horse, Maharaj pointed towards a hedge, assuring him the horse was nearby. Chandbhai went to the spot and indeed found his horse grazing there, which marked the beginning of their association.
