The first encounter between Chand Patil and Sai Baba is a pivotal story from Chapter 5 of the Shri Sai Satcharitra. Chand Patil, a fortunate Muslim man from Dhup village, was in despair after losing his mare for two months. While returning from Aurangabad, carrying the saddle on his back, he came across a mango tree. Underneath it sat a Fakir, described as wearing a cap and a kafni, with a short stick (satka) under his arm, preparing a chillum. This Fakir, who was Baba, called out to Patil, inviting him to rest and smoke. He then inquired about the saddle, leading to the miraculous revelation of the mare's location. This meeting, as Chapter 5 explains, was the moment Chand Patil realized he had encountered a great saint, or 'Avaliya'.
Describe the first meeting between Chand Patil and the mysterious Fakir who would be known as Sai Baba.
