As detailed in the Shri Sai Satcharitra, the first meeting between Chand Patil and the Fakir, who we know as Sai Baba, was quite remarkable. Chand Patil, a resident of Dhup village, was dejected after losing his mare for two months. While traveling back from Aurangabad with the saddle on his back, he came across a mango tree. Underneath it sat a Fakir wearing a cap and kafni, holding a short stick (satka). This figure, Baba, called out to Patil, inviting him to rest and smoke a chillum. Chapter 5 narrates how Baba then miraculously told Patil exactly where to find his lost horse near some streams, an event that amazed Patil and made him realize he had met a saint.
Describe the first encounter between Chand Patil and the mysterious Fakir under the mango tree.
