As detailed in Chapter 40, the Sanyasi, who was Sai Baba in disguise, returned at noon with two companions as promised. All three were seated and served a meal, which they ate with thorough satisfaction. Despite serving them personally, Dev did not recognize Baba because his mind was veiled by Maya. After the meal, the proper rituals were observed, including Uttaraposhan (final sipping of water) and Shuddhachaman (rinsing the mouth). Dev then respectfully offered all his guests, including the Sanyasi's party, traditional items like sandalwood paste, flowers, and betel leaves. The three guests then departed, leaving Dev still unaware of the divine presence he had just hosted.
