The Sanyasi returned to Dahanu in a tonga about a month after his first meeting with Dev, much earlier than the two to four months Dev had suggested. This early return made Dev suspicious. As detailed in Chapter 40, the Sanyasi went to Dev's house around ten o'clock, which was the time for the Brahmin meal. Sensing Dev's restlessness, the Sanyasi clarified his purpose, stating, 'I haven't come for money; today we want a meal.' He then mentioned he had two companions with him. Dev, despite his suspicion about the early return, graciously invited all three to have a meal at his home later that day.
