Once Sai Baba was seated in the Chavadi, the devotees would express their love through various acts of worship. As detailed in Chapter 51, they would adorn Him with beautiful clothes and ornaments, including a crest, plume, or a golden crown. Garlands of precious gems were placed around His neck. Devotees would perform personal acts of service, such as washing His feet and offering worship with water. Someone would apply a fragrant mark of musk on His forehead, while another might apply saffron paste and lovingly place betel leaf, or tambool, in His mouth, treating Him with the reverence due to a king and a divine being.
