The first meeting between Sai Baba and the sannyasi Vijayananda was quite perplexing, as recounted in Chapter 31. After the sannyasi took darshan and performed prostrations, feeling pleased, Baba’s mood suddenly shifted. He addressed the assembly and declared, "send away this sannyasi; there is no companionship for work." This unexpected command left the sannyasi, who was new and did not understand Baba's ways, feeling distressed at heart. However, despite this outwardly hostile reception, the chapter notes that the sannyasi did not leave. Instead, "seeing the service, he sat watching," choosing to remain and observe what was happening.
Describe Sai Baba's initial, and seemingly unusual, reaction to the Madrasi sannyasi upon their first meeting in Chapter 31.
