Sai Samarth had a great fondness for the festival of lights, and he even celebrated the Diwali festival. To honor this, he established a routine of lighting lamps in both the temple and the mosque. As detailed in Chapter 5, his daily practice involved taking a tin pot and personally going to the shops of grocers and oil-merchants to beg for oil. He would then use this oil to fill the lamps, for which he would make wicks by tearing rags. This routine continued for some time until the grocers conspired to deny him oil, leading to the miracle of him lighting the lamps with water.
