During the Chavadi procession, Sai Baba's appearance was described as radiant. Chapter 51 notes that his face, already of a golden hue, would shine in the light from the lamps, appearing like 'gold mixed with copper, like the morning sun.' Upon reaching the Chavadi, Baba would stop, face north, and make specific hand movements as if calling to someone. Once he was seated inside, devotees would perform various acts of worship. They would adorn him with ornaments like a golden crown, place garlands of pearls and diamonds around his neck, anoint his body with sandalwood paste, and apply a fragrant musk mark to his forehead.
