When Maharaj first came to the area, he led a very simple and ascetic life. According to Chapter 0, he primarily resided in a dilapidated Masjid. His daily routine involved going to various places during the daytime but always returning to the Masjid to stay for the night. A significant part of his day was dedicated to service; he gave medicines to the sick without ever charging money and would even personally nurse patients who were not receiving proper care.
