Chapter 35 recounts how Sai Baba addressed the topic of Dakshina in a very particular way. Despite the friend's initial vow not to give any, Baba never asked him for it. Instead, after their first darshan, Baba asked for Dakshina only from Kaka Mahajani. Later, when they went to take permission to leave for Mumbai, Baba again requested Dakshina, saying to Kaka, 'Give me seventeen rupees.' Baba pointedly asked nothing of the friend on either occasion. This complete disregard for his presence in the matter of Dakshina made the friend, who had come with such firm conditions, feel restless in his mind.
