The fulfillment of his desire for khaja had a transformative effect on Laxmichand's devotion. As recounted in Chapter 28, from that point on, his love for Sai Baba became firmly fixed. His worship became a consistent and regular practice. His devotion was such that whenever he learned of someone going to Shirdi, he would unfailingly send offerings through them.
