Describe Damu Anna's state of mind after he received Sai Baba's response to his letter.

📖 Chapter 25

Chapter 25 vividly portrays Damu Anna's despair upon receiving Sai Baba's reply. He was incredibly crestfallen as the "kingdom of the mind that he had built melted away on the spot." He had been fantasizing about earning a lakh, putting half a lakh on interest, and becoming a millionaire money-lender in Nagar. Baba's rejection of this plan caused the "fortress of his desires" to crumble. Damu Anna felt that writing the letter was a mistake and that he had caused his own harm, lamenting, "Right before my eyes, I have kicked away the served plate myself."
