The first encounter between Chand Patil and the Fakir is a wonderful story from Chapter 5. Chand Patil, the head of Dhup village, had lost his mare and was searching for her for two months. Disappointed, he was returning with the saddle on his back when he came across a Fakir sitting under a mango tree. The Fakir, who was wearing a cap and a kafni, with a short stick (satka) under his arm, called out to Patil, inviting him to rest and smoke a chillum. When the Fakir asked about the saddle, Patil explained his loss. The Fakir then simply told him to search near a stream, where the mare was immediately found. This miraculous event made Chand Patil realize he had met a great saint, or Avaliya.
Could you describe the first meeting between Chand Patil and the Fakir who would later be known as Sai Baba?
