Although Babasaheb Tarkhad was a follower of the Prarthana Samaj, which made his son initially doubt if it was right to give him the task of idol worship, he approached the duty with sincerity once he gave his word. As described in Chapter 9, on the very first day of his son's absence, Mr. Tarkhad began the worship by prostrating before the painted image and praying earnestly. He prayed, "Just as the son performs the worship, Baba, let my service be the same. Let no mistake occur through me; give love to my heart."
