Chapter 48 of the Sai Satcharitra lists several practices that do not, by themselves, qualify someone as a Sadguru. What are these insufficient attributes?

๐Ÿ“– Chapter 48

In its effort to define a true Sadguru, Chapter 48 begins by clarifying what a Sadguru is not. It cautions that wise men do not consider someone a Sadguru simply because they have studied the Vedas or can explain Vedanta. The chapter also dismisses practices like controlling the breath through Pranayama or wearing heated marks (Taptamudra) as insufficient qualifications. Furthermore, giving pleasing talks about Brahman or dispensing mantras from scriptures without providing a path to certain results is also not the mark of a Sadguru. The text describes such knowledge without self-experience as 'verbally hollow,' highlighting that these external practices alone are not the signs of a true master.
