After his son left for Shirdi, Babasaheb Tarkhad took up the daily worship himself with great sincerity. According to Chapter 9, his process began in the early morning. After bathing, he would come before Sai Baba's painted image and offer a prayer, asking that his service be just like his son's and that no mistake would occur. He then performed the worship and made an offering of Naivedya, which consistently consisted of a piece of sugar candy. This became his daily rule.
