Can you walk me through the entire Chavadi procession, from when Baba was getting ready to when the procession started?

Certainly. The Chavadi procession was a grand affair. Before it began, the area around the Masjid was festively decorated with rows of lamps. Sai Baba, wearing His usual kafni, would wait for Tatya Patil to arrive. As described in Chapter 37, Baba would not leave until Tatya came and helped Him up by putting a hand under His arm. Tatya would then place a golden-bordered shawl over Baba. Before setting out, Baba performed a ritual where He would go to a spot where firewood was kept, move His right big toe, and then extinguish a burning flame with His right hand. Only then would the procession begin, accompanied by the playing of musical instruments and the lighting of fireworks.
