Hemantpant first met and had the darshan of Sai Baba in the year 1910 AD. As detailed in Chapter 2, his journey was prompted by an encounter with Nanasaheb. He arrived in Shirdi between nine and ten in the morning and was staying at Sathe's Wada. Overcome with an eagerness for darshan, he was advised by Tatyasaheb Noolkar to go quickly. He ran to where Baba was and prostrated in the dust at His feet, an experience that he describes as the beginning of a new life for his soul.
