Despite the uncle being a physician himself and enlisting the help of other doctors and expert surgeons, the ailment remained incurable. The text mentions that all native and foreign treatments, including surgery, were attempted without success, leaving the family distressed by the boy's suffering. When all medical remedies were exhausted, they heard of a famous saint, Sai Maharaj of Shirdi, who could heal diseases. As a last resort, they decided to visit Shirdi, hoping that if Sai Baba applied Udi with his own hand, the incurable disease might be overcome.
