Damu Anna was a wealthy Kasar, or bronze-smith, from Ahmednagar who was a devoted follower of Sai Baba. As described in Chapter 25, he played a significant role in the annual Ram Navami festival in Shirdi. For many years, as a regular vow, he provided one of the two large new flags that were taken out in a procession through the village. The other flag was provided by the Nimonkars. This procession would begin at the house of Kondaji Sutara and conclude with the two long banners being tied to the ends of the Masjid, demonstrating Damu Anna's uninterrupted love and devotion.
