Can you tell me about the narrator's personal story in Chapter 21 where he missed an opportunity to meet a saint?

๐Ÿ“– Chapter 21

In Chapter 21, the narrator, Hemadpant, shares his own experience to illustrate how ill-luck can prevent an encounter with a Saint. While he was a Magistrate in Bandra, a servant of the famous Siddha Pir Maulana constantly urged him to come for a vision. Despite many Hindus, Parsis, and others visiting the Saint, the narrator's ego and pride held him back. He thought to himself, "Why should I go? Should I be pressured by others and lose my own prestige?" As Chapter 21 recounts, he never went for the vision, attributing this failure to his own "ill-luck" standing in the way, and many years passed before he was transferred and eventually found his path to Shirdi.
