Damu Anna was a wealthy bronze-smith (Kasar) from Ahmednagar who was a devoted follower of Sai Baba. According to chapter 25, he was a great devotee at Sai's feet. Initially, he had two wives but was without children until he received Sai's blessings and was blessed with sons. His devotion was demonstrated through a long-standing vow he upheld during the annual Ram Navami festival. Alongside the Nimonkars, Damu Anna would provide one of two large new flags for the procession. This procession, which started from Kondaji Sutara's house with musical accompaniment, would conclude with the banners being tied to the ends of the Masjid.
