Chapter 42 narrates a remarkable incident involving a prophecy. Ramchandra Dada Patil of Shirdi was gravely ill and, in his despair, asked Baba when he would die. Baba appeared at his bedside, comforted him, and assured him that his life was no longer in danger. However, Baba then made a specific prediction, stating, "I do not see a good fate for Tatya, O Ramchandra." He foretold that in the Shaka year 1840, during the bright half of the month of Ashvin on Vijayadashami, Tatya would "attain the eternal state."
