Certainly. Kashiram was attacked by thieves who were after a small bundle he carried, which they mistakenly believed held treasure. In reality, as Chapter 0 explains, it contained powdered sugar for feeding ants, a practice advised by Janakidas Baba. Because this bundle was dear to him, Kashiram fought back when the thieves tried to take it. He managed to grab a dropped sword and kill two assailants before a third struck him with an axe, rendering him unconscious. The thieves left him for dead, but he later regained consciousness. Demonstrating his complete faith in Maharaj, he refused hospital treatment and insisted on being taken to Shirdi, where he was treated by Madhavrao Deshpande under Maharaj's instructions and eventually recovered.
